Closed alpha

Lostlings OnlineMissing: one cat.

House cats slip through a portal and wake up on islands, on two paws. Nothing here comes ready-made: every axe and every sword is forged by a player. One shared world, an economy in the players' paws, and a course set by those who come first.

It starts with a poster

Your character is a “missing cat” poster: a coat, a name and a password. Try the coats; the cat on the beach and the comic follow your pick.

MISSING CAT

Ginger
  • Coat: ginger.
  • Last seen: on the sofa, after dinner.
  • Distinguishing marks: lazy, greedy and mouthy.
  • If found, please do not return.
Find the cat
From the sofa to the island
  1. The sofa. A full bowl. Sun on the windowsill.
  2. A nap after dinner, like every day.
  3. A flash.
  4. A strange island. The sound of the sea. And someone waving from the jetty.

The intro every new cat sees. The one waving is Old Bury, the island's keeper.

Every sword was forged by someone

Nothing appears out of thin air. Everything in your backpack passed through someone's paws.

  1. 1

    Gather

Wood, ore, cotton, hides. The forest is shared, and it grows back slowly.

  2. 2

    Craft

Tools, weapons, armor, bags and potions. Old Bury gives you one tool; the rest is up to you.

  3. 3

    Use it up

Gear wears out. Repair it, salvage it, or buy new from the cat who made it.

  4. 4

    The black market buys

A hooded dealer buys up weapons and armor made by players.

  5. 5

    It comes back as loot

What he buys turns up on the animals in the forest. His stock starts empty and grows with the world.

A felled pine becomes someone's axe. A forged sword becomes someone's lucky find, signed by its maker: “Forged by: Biscuit”.

Under the surface

Simple pixels on top. Underneath, a world that remembers everything.

A cat, an island, an axe. That's the first glance.

  1. -1

    A backpack with real weight

Every trip is a choice of what to carry.

  2. -2

    Practice, not levels

Every tool, weapon and armor trains its own skill.

  3. -3

    Animals with habits

Hares watch how you approach. Boars charge as a herd. A wounded stag fights back.

  4. -4

    Water cats hate

Yet they live on islands. Don't swim too far: something with a fin is waiting.

  5. -5

    A world with a memory

Prices remember, a hunted forest recovers slowly, and a fallen cat's pack waits in a bundle.

  6. -6

    The forest liesLater

Some oaks are sleeping ents. Some ore veins are golems. And one wolf may not be a wolf.

You don't just test it. You shape it.

Lostlings grows with its first players. The alpha and beta decide where it goes.

  • Say what's wrong

Bugs, annoyances and ideas go straight to the developer.

  • Vote on what's next

Testers pick which mechanics get built next.

  • Choose new places

Meadows, swamps, mountains or something else entirely: new locations go to a vote.

  • A mark that stays

Play before launch and keep the title “First in the Forest”, a founder's badge and an avatar frame. Cosmetic only.

Founder's frame (draft)

Made by one developer from Poland, who reads every report.

The closed alpha opens in waves. Be the first to hear:

Honestly: this is the beginning

Today: a shared online world in the browser. One town, a forest in three rings, a tutorial island, three tiers of gear, five kinds of animals. The cats are still placeholder art.

Next: alpha waves, a player-run market, crafter signatures, evolving skills and a proper art pass. Early Access is planned for 2027.
